Skin Cancer Awareness

Written by Sam Watson. Posted in Blog

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S., and one in five people will get it at some point in their life.

Those are some pretty scary facts — but the good news is that skin cancer can almost always be cured when it is found and treated early. That’s why this month in the U.S. is Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month.

Here comes the Glass City Marathon!

In a little over a week, thousands of runners will converge at The University of Toledo for the 2014 Medical Mutual Glass City Marathon.

My first 5k was the Glass City Marathon two years ago with my dad, who is an avid runner. I’m not sure how he convinced me to do it, but even as someone who never runs I had a lot of fun spending time with my dad.

I would encourage everyone, runner or not, to participate in the event — even with minimal training I had a blast. The expo before the race offers a lot of great information about other races in the Toledo area as well as gear for running. After the race, runners hang out and drink beer and eat pizza. What could be better than that?
