Your cosmetic and skin-care questions answered

As we move into February, the month of the Valentine, I would like to address some questions about what types of tools we have to help you love your look.

“I want my lips to look like they did 10 years ago. I want them enhanced, but super natural. I have only seen poorly done lips, so I am scared. How can I make sure that my lips look natural but plump too?”

–Emily G, 24

Emily, communication with your injector is very important when it comes to any filler procedure. Make sure that you have realistic expectations and bring some examples of looks that you like and looks that you don’t. Bring pictures of yourself when you really enjoyed how your lips looked. There are some great FDA-approved lip-enhancement products from Juvederm and Restylane to help you achieve the rejuvenation you are looking for!

“I have acne scars that really bother me, but I cannot afford a lot of downtime. What can be done to improve them?”–Angie L, 34

HALO, which is a combination laser, is an amazing option for acne scars. It is completely customizable, so we can be more aggressive in some areas and gentler in others for minimal downtime. You can also apply mineral makeup and return to normal activities the day after the treatment, making it perfect for busy folks.

“I saw BBL (Broad Band Light) treatment before-and-after pictures on the Blush Facebook page, and the results were great. Is there any downtime with BBL? Does it hurt?”–Shayna M, 47

There is no downtime with BBL. Moisturizer and mineral makeup can be applied immediately after the treatment! BBL is great for acne, rosacea, brown spots, red spots, wrinkles, and skin laxity. Again, it is another one of our customizable treatments, so we can really focus on any problem areas while still stimulating your own skin to make collagen, which is essential for youthful-looking skin. In terms of discomfort, most people describe it as “warm” or “spicy.” There is no pain or discomfort associated with it, and the treatment ends with a warm tissue massage setting for tightening, which feels amazing in this cold weather.

“I love my BBL treatment results, but with this winter cold, my skin is so incredibly dry. I am in and out of areas of forced heat all the time, and I just feel that no matter how much moisturizer I use, it never actually does the job. What are my options?”–Jennie, 52

Linda, our master aesthetician/dermatician in the office, has great cost-effective treatments and products that she can recommend to attain that healthy, dewy look. Although everyone’s skin needs are different, she can customize a plan that includes a process for helping the dry, dead top layer of the skin to keep moving up and off.
