Services and amenities abound at Sunset Village

Written by Healthy Living News. Posted in August

Located in a tranquil suburban setting—but just a stone’s throw from downtown Sylvania with all its shopping and dining opportunities, entertainment, and rich cultural attractions—Sunset Village has plenty to offer area seniors who are seeking a vibrant environment to call home as well as the ability to choose different levels of care as needed.

“Here at Sunset Village, residents and their loved ones feel right at home and enjoy a true sense of community,” says Gayle Young, Director of Marketing, Communication and Public Relations for Sunset Retirement Communities. “Neighborhood-like floor plans, beautifully appointed common areas, attractive gardens and courtyards, a wellness center, a full-service barber and beauty salon, a private dining room for special gatherings, and a sweet shop are just some of the amenities we offer. Plus, the living options at Sunset Village include assisted living, health care, and memory care, so we’re able to meet a wide range of residents’ care needs in one location.”

Having celebrated its 15th anniversary on July 20th, Sunset Village is well established in the broader community. What’s more, many current Sunset Village employees have worked at the facility since its doors first opened in 2002. That degree of longevity not only speaks volumes about the working atmosphere at Sunset Village, but also ensures residents and their loved ones are surrounded by plenty of friendly, familiar faces as they go about their day.

Also situated on the Sunset Village campus (on the north side with easy access from Sylvania Metamora Road and Allen Road) is a brand-new state-of-the-art rehab center. Serving clients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis (with a separate entrance for outpatients), the center features a 6,000-square-foot gym area with new equipment, a Swimex therapy pool with three levels of water depth and a paddlewheel for resistance training, a mobility courtyard with varied surfaces to help clients practice navigating the different types of terrain they may encounter, a life skills apartment to help clients transition back home smoothly, and private treatment rooms.

Young adds, “Our patient-focused physical, occupational, and speech therapists are poised to meet clients’ rehabilitation needs up to seven days a week, and admissions are accepted 24 hours a day. The center is also pet-friendly, further enhancing the home-like atmosphere, and we offer private suites with WI-FI access and personal-concierge-like services for clients who stay at the facility during their rehab.”

The Sunset Village campus is also home to Fieldstone Villas, a unique 12-unit Life Plan Community (formerly called a CCRC). Situated in a luxuriant, park-like setting complete with walking paths, lush landscaping, and beautiful views overlooking ponds and meadows, Fieldstone Villas redefines the traditional image of a retirement community while freeing residents from the burdensome chores of homeownership. “In fact, all aspects of home maintenance, both inside and outside, are provided. That includes lawn care and snow removal, preventive maintenance, appliance and plumbing repairs, and even bi-monthly housekeeping,” says Young.❦
